No. AI games, the 1,000 puzzles, position setup and game history all work offline. Wi-Fi is only needed for online play and firmware updates, and the InfiChess app only to link your account and authorize Lichess.
There are 20 levels. Levels 1–2 are fun levels; levels 3–20 rise in 100-point steps from the 100–199 Elo range to 1800–1899. New players are best starting at levels 1–5.
Players who want to practise in short breaks: students, commuters, travellers and club players. Y2 is marked for ages 12+. The stylus is a small part, so keep it away from children under 3.
Lichess and InfiChess. Choose your side, time control (10+0 to 30+20), casual or rated, and a rating range. Y2 supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only, not 5 GHz.
Online games are kept on the server. Reconnect, open Online Play again and Y2 returns to your unfinished game. The clock keeps running while you are offline, so reconnect quickly.
Y2 has a built-in 1500 mAh battery and charges over USB-C. Use the included cable with a compatible USB power adapter (not included). It switches off after 10 minutes without use and saves the current game.
Yes. Up to 30 games are stored in Game History. Puzzle progress is saved too, so you continue where you stopped.
English, German, French, Chinese and Russian. Voice prompts can be turned on or off, with three volume levels or mute.
Run Calibrate in Settings and tap the on-screen crosses again. If Y2 ever stops responding, press the recessed Reset key on the back once with the stylus.
